Yu Menglong's Reply: The "Ascension" Post | Volunteer Teaching | Unreleased Works
Lemon: Two months after your passing, people discovered that as early as September 11, 2021, there was a mysterious post on the Chinese website Zhihu that said: “Destiny. Four years from today, Menglong will ascend. At that time, the meaning will become clear.” Was this so-called death prediction real, or was it fake news? Since you were unexpectedly persecuted to death and unknowingly brought your dogs to that deadly gathering, was this mysterious post spread by CCP internet trolls to confuse the public?
Yu Menglong: The mysterious post was spread by CCP internet trolls to manipulate public opinion and cover up the truth behind the death and the real masterminds behind it.
Lemon: So regarding the sacrifice, did they still go through with the ritual process? But by that time Menglong had already passed away, so the sacrifice was unsuccessful. Is my understanding correct?
Yu En Transmission: Yu knew that he had been sold by the entertainment company to be sacrificed, but he did not know that the gathering was a deadly trap.
Lemon: What was the real reason the entertainment company arranged for you to go to Yunnan for rural teaching support?
Yu Menglong: The teaching support period was not three years — it was only a little over one year.
The entertainment company arranged for me to do rural teaching support in order to sideline and freeze my career, while also supporting the country’s teaching support program and, conveniently, making the Lemons forget about me. Being sent there was a form of punishment from the entertainment company for not being obedient.
I was indeed blacklisted and frozen out by the entertainment industry for as long as three years as punishment for refusing to cooperate with unspoken industry rules.
During the year-plus I spent teaching in rural areas, the conditions were harsh. I had very few clothes. Since it was a punishment, they also did not give me money.
One of my down jackets was given to me by a local friend who could not bear to see my situation. I wore it for a long time and treasured it deeply.
Although resources were scarce, that period of teaching support was the most peaceful, serene, and happiest time of my life — because no one forced me to do things I did not want to do.
When the entertainment industry wants to ruin you, they have countless methods. Before targeting you, they have already prepared excuses that sound reasonable.
Some people said that Menglong discovered some kind of secret base during his teaching support period, but that is not true.
Lemon: When your personal freedom was being controlled and monitored, why were you still allowed to keep Fuli and Huotui?
Yu Menglong: That was only a relative kind of freedom under strict surveillance. In some unimportant matters, Menglong was allowed a limited degree of choice, while at the same time creating the illusion for fans that he was living a normal life.
Lemon: I’d like to understand what kind of agents those fake parents were. For example, Yu’s mother seemed like a low-profile, ordinary woman who even had to work side jobs to support her child… I’m curious about where they came from and what their mission was.
Yu Menglong: Fake parents could be all kinds of agents. I was relatively fortunate. Although my mother was not my biological mother, she truly loved and cared for me very much. Besides working side jobs, the state would also provide subsidies to agents, so raising a child was not a problem.
Lemon: I’m not interested in Chinese film and television productions in general, but I really wish I could someday watch Yu’s unreleased works, “Huo Qubing” and “The Great Chinese Medicine Practitioner.” They both feel like soul-defining works for Mengmeng. Do you think there’s any chance they could eventually be released?
Yu Menglong: “Huo Qubing” (霍去病)and “The Great Chinese Medicine Practitioner”(大中醫) will probably have a chance to be released eventually, but it will take some time because China is currently “banning Yu.”
