Yu's Reincarnation Stories: The Age of Exploration Under the Protection of the Dragon Gods
One of the members of Yu En Transmission shared a reincarnation connection with Yu (Yu Menglong) that dates back to one of her past lives, in which her soul crossed paths with one of Yu's secondary souls.
In that lifetime, she was a great leader of the Western Dragon Clan, residing in the Atlantic Ocean.
She once worked together with one of Yu's secondary souls, who served as the Eastern Dragon King and resided in the Indian Ocean.
During the Age of Exploration in the 1540s, the Dragon Kings of the East and the West joined forces to protect ships and ensure their safe passage across the seas.
The oceans during the Age of Exploration were far from peaceful. Terrifying sea monsters lurked beneath the waves.
Before setting sail, captains and sailors would pray to the Dragon Clan for protection, hoping to survive any encounter with sea monsters and return safely.
Many ships also displayed finely crafted statues of Poseidon on their prows as symbols of protection and safe voyages. Incidentally, Poseidon is the heavenly deity who oversees the Western Dragon Clan.
Sea monsters attacking ships was not unusual in those days. Many people who prayed to the Dragon Clan for a safe voyage were able to survive dangerous encounters and return home safely under the Dragon Clan's protection.
Many different kinds of sea monsters were said to inhabit the oceans, including the Kraken, Sea Serpents, island-like beasts such as Zaratan or gigantic whales, as well as real marine creatures like the Giant Squid and the Sperm Whale.
The Kraken would often wrap its powerful tentacles around a ship, dragging it beneath the sea.
Sometimes it would simply crush the ship's wooden hull with overwhelming force or create enormous whirlpools that pulled entire vessels beneath the waves.
Sea Serpents would ram ships with their massive heads and bodies, whip the ocean into towering waves with their tails, capsize vessels, or snatch sailors directly from the deck before swallowing them whole.
Island-like beasts would disguise themselves by floating motionless on the surface, appearing to be small islands. Exhausted sailors would disembark, only for the creature to suddenly roll over and dive into the deep ocean. The powerful suction created in that instant would drag both the sailors and nearby ships beneath the sea.
The sailors of that era lived in constant fear of these monsters and the countless unknown creatures hidden within the ocean. They prepared many kinds of weapons and equipment to defend themselves.
For example, they fired the ship's cannons at sea monsters, hoping the explosions and flying debris would drive the creatures away.
Soldiers on deck would use matchlock muskets to concentrate their fire on tentacles or heads approaching the ship.
Heavy whaling harpoons and long spears were used to stab monsters attempting to climb aboard.
If tentacles wrapped themselves around the deck, sailors would attack them together with their swords.
Whenever the lookout spotted unusual currents, dark shadows beneath the surface, or large spouts of water, the captain would immediately order the ship to change course.
Some sea monsters were believed to be attracted by loud noises, so crews would reduce unnecessary movement and conversation while passing through dangerous waters.
When favorable winds arose, they would raise every sail possible in an attempt to outrun slower sea creatures.
Besides sea monsters, storms and hurricanes were constant dangers.
Whenever sailors who believed in the Dragon Clan found themselves in genuine peril, the Dragon Clan priest aboard the ship would lead the captain, sailors, and officials in kneeling together with bowed heads to pray for the Dragon Clan's protection.
Because the Dragon Clan governs water—from the rain and storms in the heavens to the oceans upon the earth—these voyages were able to pass safely through dangerous waters and ultimately reach their destinations under the Dragon Clan's protection.
The Indian Ocean in the East was equally dangerous. Sailors there also encountered creatures such as the Indian Cetea, the composite sea monster known as Ketea Indikoi, Makara, enormous man-eating fish said to swallow entire ships, and many others.
These sea monsters all preyed upon humans.
Yet they feared those who possessed faith in the Dragon Clan.
Such people radiated a kind of light that the sea monsters dreaded, causing them to keep their distance and refrain from attacking.
Prayers offered by Western priests to the Eastern Dragon King were equally effective. Language posed no barrier to the Eastern Dragon Clan.
For this reason, the Eastern Dragon Clan protected those who believed in the Dragon God, helping them survive dangers, avoid disasters, and successfully complete their trading missions and voyages of exploration.
The great leader of the Western Dragon Clan in that lifetime is now an Annual Member of Yu En Transmission in this lifetime.
While answering her questions about her reincarnation connection with Yu, we learned this remarkable story. With her permission, we are delighted to share it with everyone.
