Yu of the Dragon Clan (I)

In the series Yu of the Dragon Clan, what is primarily shared is the deep connection between Yu Menglong and the Dragon Clan.

The following content represents only the messages and understanding we have received at our current level. From here on, it will be narrated in the first person from Yu En's perspective, conveying what Yu has transmitted.

Yu told me that the Dragon Clan is a vast race of divine beasts within the heavenly realms. Their numbers are greater than those of any other clan of divine beasts. Their work is the governance of water and the waging of celestial battles.

When it comes to the governance of water, this includes the rain that falls from the heavens, the mist that drifts in the air, the dew that gathers on leaves, the oceans, the rivers, the streams and lakes — even the water in wells. As long as it is water, whether fresh water or seawater, it falls under the management of the Dragon Clan.

Yu En has had the heavenly eye open ever since childhood (the "heavenly eye" — tianmu — refers to an inner spiritual sight that, in Chinese cultivation tradition, allows one to perceive realms invisible to ordinary human vision), and the first divine beasts I ever encountered were also of the Dragon Clan. They carry an extraordinarily powerful positive energy and have the ability to transform conflict into peace. Because their energy is so immense, their fighting strength is also formidable, and evil beings are deeply afraid of them. This is the very reason why temples in Taiwan often have dragon pillars or images of dragons standing at their gates — to ward off malevolent forces.

Yu said that the Dragon Clan is divided into two different lineages: the Western Dragons and the Eastern Dragons. Whether of the East or of the West, dragons all have an appearance like the one in the Yu En Transmission logo. Only the colors of their scales differ. The Western dragons look like this too, and they need no wings in order to fly. However, in the West there is also another kind — an evil dragon. These have stout, fat, short bodies and bat-like wings, and they are deeply wicked. The red dragon standing behind the Chinese Communist Party is precisely of this kind. This species belongs to a completely different race from the good Western Dragons, and the two must not be confused.

What this article will first speak of is the connection between Yu and the Western Dragon Clan.

In the article about The Child of Light, it was mentioned that Yu's identity in the higher realms was that of the Liuli Heavenly King ("Liuli" — 琉璃 — refers to a sacred, translucent, gemstone-like substance, glazed crystal or lapis lazuli, which in East Asian tradition is associated with purity and the divine). Before descending to Earth, he carried the mission of light. When he had completed his mission of light, and before he came to Earth for his first incarnation as Yu Menglong, he was, along the way, brought to a celestial paradise near the Three Realms (in Chinese cosmology, the "Three Realms" — Sanjie — refers to the realm where the cycle of reincarnation operates: the realm of heaven, the realm of earth, and the realm of the underworld) to rest and recover. This was because, during the process of his leap downward from the Liuli celestial realm, his divine body had been severely damaged in passing through layer after layer of the vast cosmos, and what remained of him was only a single mass of light.

(AI Visualization)

Without a divine body in form, by the standards of the old universe he was not permitted to enter Earth for reincarnation. He could only be cast into a void of "nothingness" — a space, it is said, where there is absolutely nothing. There he could do nothing but wait painfully for a divine being from the upper realms to pass by, use their divine power to bring him out, and bestow upon him a new divine body, before he could enter Earth and reincarnate.

But the Creator caught the Liuli Heavenly King in time, because the Liuli Heavenly King had previously signed a "Divine Covenant" with the Creator and was therefore under His protection. The Creator gave the Liuli Heavenly King the smallest possible dragon's body as his divine form, in order to avoid drawing unnecessary attention, and entrusted this small dragon to the deity who at that time governed the Western Dragon Clan — the Sea God, Poseidon. Poseidon is the ruler of the seas, and is known as the god of the ocean, the rivers, earthquakes, and horses. He is one of the Twelve Olympians of Greek mythology. And because the Dragon Clan is in charge of governing water, they too came under the dominion of the Sea God.

(AI Visualization)

At that time, the Sea God Poseidon, with his great divine power, had created the civilization of Atlantis — an oceanic empire endowed with advanced technology, immense wealth, and a city laid out in concentric rings. After Poseidon entrusted the empire to a royal family chosen by the people, he led the Dragon Clan to circle the skies above this magnificent empire, watching over it as its guardian.

The Dragon Clan, having been entrusted by Poseidon, bore the sacred mission of guarding Atlantis. However, the Dragon Clan, after all, no longer existed at the same level of being as humans, and ordinary people had no way of communicating with them directly. Although the royal family had been chosen by the people, they too were unable to converse with the Dragon Clan. And so the role of the "priestess" came into being. Whenever the royal family needed to communicate with the Dragon Clan, they had to convey their requests through a priestess, who would write the petition into a sacred document, offer incense and prayer, and then burn the document so that its contents would reach the Dragon Clan.

The Dragon Clan did not necessarily grant every petition. They would observe the moral character of the royal family, consider whether the request was truly for the welfare of the people, and test the steadfastness of the royal family's resolve in their petition, before deciding whether or not to grant it.

Later on, the Sea God Poseidon was to descend to the mortal world for reincarnation. He, too, had long ages ago signed a Divine Covenant with the Creator, and there was a mission for which he needed to descend without delay. But before doing so, he had to choose a new leader for the Dragon Clan to inherit his duty and continue to guard Atlantis.

With his divine sight, the Sea God Poseidon saw that the little dragon (that is, the divine form of the Liuli Heavenly King) had a deep predestined connection with the new High Priestess. He believed that the little dragon would be able to bear the responsibility of leading the Dragon Clan and communicating with the priestesses.

And this High Priestess was none other than the reincarnation of the Crystal High Deity.

(AI Visualization)

The priestesses of Atlantis were always women. They were chosen from among the common people by junior priestesses sent out from the priestess temple under the orders of the High Priestess. Once selected, a candidate had to pass a series of trials to confirm that she had preserved her divine nature and was capable of communicating with the Dragon Deities, before she could become a priestess-in-training.

This High Priestess, the reincarnation of the Crystal High Deity, retained the divine sight of her eyes (that is, her heavenly eye), and could see the past and the future of Atlantis. She had seen that the sea was about to swallow the entire empire, and was filled with deep alarm. She wished to conduct a celestial prayer rite to ask the will of the Dragon Deities.

However, the High Priestess could not conduct a celestial prayer (that is, a prayer addressed to the Dragon Deities) on her own — for she was under the command of the royal family, and the rite had to be carried out by the entire body of priestesses together, at the express direction of the royal family. Only then could this concentrated and immensely powerful force reach the ears of the divine.

The High Priestess left the priestess tower and made her way to the royal palace to report this matter to the king. But by this time, the royal family had become morally corrupt and their character had crumbled. They indulged every desire. Within the palace, they kept countless young boys and young girls, used to satisfy the bodily pleasures and entertainments of the royals. Many of these boys and girls were even kept naked, made to serve in humiliation these royals who took themselves to be so noble!

This meant that the very future of the oceanic empire — its young people — had been reduced to nothing more than tools of enslavement and lust for the royal family!

(AI Visualization)

Seeing how these depraved and licentious acts of the royal family had so gravely strayed from the teachings of the Dragon Deities, the High Priestess, with great sorrow, was about to leave. But a young girl of the royal family quietly followed after her. On that day, the royal court was holding a grand celebration. Everyone was caught up in the festivities, and even the guards who normally watched over her had been reassigned to other duties — which is how she was able to slip away unseen.

This young princess, dressed in coarse, plain clothing and cast aside by her own royal family, was the reincarnation of the Lord of the Desert. But because she was mute and had always been confined to the deepest, most hidden corners of the palace, she could neither speak nor write. And yet, through the power of her mind, she was able to communicate with the High Priestess through pure thought.

(AI Visualization)

Through clairvoyant vision, the little princess had glimpsed what was troubling the High Priestess. With her mind, she asked the High Priestess: since she herself carried the royal bloodline, would she be qualified to issue the command to the body of priestesses, so that the celestial prayer might be carried out? The High Priestess saw that the little princess possessed a powerful divine nature, and so she consented.

The entire celestial prayer proceeded smoothly, and the sacred petition reached directly to the leader of the Dragon Clan — the very form embodied by the Liuli Heavenly King. But at this point, the destiny of the whole of Atlantis had already reached its "final calamity" (the "final" meaning the very end, the "calamity" meaning a catastrophic tribulation). There was no longer any way to turn back the heavens.

(AI Visualization)

This once-glorious Atlantis, because of the depravity of its royal family and the moral sinking of its people, saw the whole of its imperial civilization arrive at its end. By this moment in Atlantis, no one any longer held faith in the Dragon Deities; no one any longer followed the teachings of the Dragon Deities to uphold morality; no one any longer sincerely prayed for the help of the Dragon Deities. Because the people had lost their faith, the Dragon Clan was unable to extend a saving hand, and could only watch, helpless, as the entire imperial civilization went to its destruction.

The leader of the Dragon Clan — the embodiment of the Liuli Heavenly King — revealed his will through the celestial prayer rite, before the priestesses: Atlantis was about to return to the embrace of the Sea God. Only those who dwelled within the priestess tower could still hold any hope of survival.

When the High Priestess proclaimed the divine oracle of the Dragon Clan, many people scoffed at it and dismissed it out of hand. Most of all the royal family and the noble class — they even ordered their guards to tear the oracle to shreds. However, because the oracle carried within it the divine power of the gods, it could neither be torn nor in any way destroyed.

There were still some of the early people of Atlantis who had carefully remembered the ancient teachings of the Dragon Deities and had passed them down from generation to generation, transmitting the faith in the Dragon Deities orally and heart-to-heart to their descendants. And so, those who still preserved this faith within their hearts began to migrate in the direction of the priestess tower — even though the majority of people paid no heed at all to the divine oracle of the Dragon Deities.

(AI Visualization)

The priestess tower rose tall into the clouds, standing upon the sea, and was set at quite a distance from the shore. So entering the tower was no easy matter. One had to have an unwavering will, and to be undaunted by the great height of the tower, in order to climb up its heights and make one's way inside. Many of those who came to the priestess tower did succeed in entering, but many others were terrified by the sheer height of the tower and gave up — they could only stand below and gaze up at the tower in lamentation. Yu said that among those people of Atlantis who, in those ancient times, held faith in the Dragon Deities, many have in this present lifetime become Yu's supporters — whether or not they had managed in that age to make it inside the tower.

Meanwhile, the moral corruption of the other Atlanteans grew worse and worse, and very soon the scene became one of "wine and meat rotting behind the vermilion gates of the rich, while frozen corpses lie out upon the road" (this is a famous classical Chinese line by the Tang-dynasty poet Du Fu, describing the extreme inequality between the wealthy living in luxury and the poor dying of cold and hunger on the streets). The wealthy had no compassion at all, and even took to the outrageous practice of eating human flesh as accompaniment to their fine wine; the poor sold their wives and children just to scrape by for another day, and there were even cases of families exchanging their children with one another in order to devour them.

What truly upholds a civilization are right faith and morality. And the crumbling pillars supporting the civilization of Atlantis at last reached the moment of their thunderous collapse: the seawater poured in and overwhelmed everything, the soil suffered a severe liquefaction and sank away, and this once-prosperous oceanic empire fulfilled at last the divine oracle of the Dragon Deities — sinking beneath the sea, returning to the embrace of the Sea God. The priestess tower, too, broke apart with a thunderous roar and plunged down into the sea.

(AI Visualization)

But the people who had taken shelter within the tower, holding their right faith in the Dragon Deities, closed their eyes under the guidance of the High Priestess and waited for the salvation of the Dragon Deities.

After the priestess tower had sunk to the bottom of the sea, the people inside opened their eyes — and discovered that gills had grown behind their ears, that webbing had formed between their fingers, and that their lower bodies had become those of fish. They had been transformed into the merfolk. And so, the surviving Atlanteans, in the new form of life bestowed upon them by the Dragon Deities, continued to live on as merfolk beneath the sea.

(AI Visualization)

After this, the Dragon Clan no longer circled the skies above what had once been Atlantis. They knew they had other missions to fulfill, and so they departed. The Liuli Heavenly King, who had served as the leader of the Dragon Clan at that time, had used the last of his divine power to protect the surviving people of Atlantis. With that, the life of his incarnation as the leader of the Dragon Clan also came to its end. His Main Soul was placed in a realm beyond the sight of any deity of the old universe, where he would wait for the right moment, and quietly await the destined opportunity.
